Slow-Cooked Turkey Tacos

A hearty, hands-off dish perfect for busy days and hungry crowds. Tender turkey legs, smoky BBQ sauce, and your favourite taco toppings — what’s not to love?

Ingredients

  • 2 turkey legs
  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce (Bull’s Eye Original recommended)
  • Taco shells or wraps
  • Your choice of dressings and toppings (e.g. shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, pickled onions)

Step 1: Prep the turkey

  • Place turkey legs in a large bowl with a lid to help retain moisture.
  • Pour over 20% of the BBQ sauce and coat well.

Step 2: Slow cook

  • Transfer to a slow cooker or the bottom oven of your Aga.
  • Cook on low for 6 hours until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.

Step 3: Reserve the juices

  • Remove 80% of the cooking juices — don’t discard! These make excellent stock for soups or gravy.

Step 4: Shred and sauce

  • Take out the turkey legs and pull the meat off the bone.
  • Return the shredded meat to the cooker with the remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Cook for a further 20 minutes to soak up the flavour.

Step 5: Serve

    • Spoon the juicy turkey into taco shells or wraps, add your favourite toppings and enjoy!
